Just like natural seasons change, so do spiritual seasons. Do you know how to discern the difference? Keep reading to find out!Read More
“You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house." Matthew 5:14-15 NIV
When you walk into a dark room, what is the first thing that you do? Hopefully you head straight towards the light switch so that the atmosphere becomes brighter, and your vision becomes clearer....
In a world that seems to be getting darker by the day, the last thing that we need, is for the church to turn our their lights as well. Natural disasters, racial divides, and threats of world war, are plaguing our world like never before in this day and age. As children of God, although we are in the world, we are not of the world. God chose you and I to be a light in the darkness, to change the atmosphere, to make the world brighter, and so that the glory of God would become clearer to those who have yet to see.
No matter how "personal" the attacks may seem, we can not afford to lose sight of our Heavenly mission. We are not wrestling against flesh and blood, but against rulers and principalities of darkness. We do not simply have race, terrorist, economic, and injustice issues, we have spiritually demonic issues that have produced those weapons to hinder the plans of God. Only weapons of light can dispel darkness, and that is why we are here.
As you go throughout your week, bless those who persecute you. Love the "unlovable." Advocate for peace and unity. Pray for the forces of darkness to be overcome. Share the gospel of Jesus Christ with those around you, not with your words, but with your actions. We are the light of the world. If the world has grown darker, it is because we have neglected to keep the light on. Be intentional this week. Seek the Lord for a strategy to spread light in your workplace, community, household, family, social media platforms, etc. We have a big job to do. Let's do it with truth and love, and on one accord, in Jesus' name.
